What is an Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeon?
Otolaryngologists, commonly referred to as ENT doctors, are trained in the surgical and medical diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related head and neck structures. Our doctors diagnose, treat, and manage specialty disorders including pediatrics (children), otology (ears, hearing loss, balance, tinnitus facial nerve), plastic and reconstructive surgery, head and neck cancer, laryngology (throat and voice), and rhinology (sinus and nose). Otolaryngologists differ from many physicians in that they are trained in both surgery and medicine. These doctors do not need to refer patients to other physicians when ear, nose, throat, or head/neck surgery is needed and, therefore, can offer the most appropriate care for each individual patient. Each of our doctors completed college, medical school, and 6 years of surgical training prior to board certification. They each have been elected as fellows of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
